Animal Liver and Kidneys

Organ meats, including liver and kidneys, are nutrient-dense foods rich in vitamin B12. Lamb liver, in particular, is an outstanding source, offering an incredible 3571% of the DV per 3.5 ounces. While lamb liver stands out for its vitamin B12 content, beef and veal liver are close contenders, providing about 3000% of the DV in a similar serving.

These organ meats aren’t merely vitamin B12 powerhouses; they’re also packed with essential minerals like copper, selenium, and vitamins A and B2. Similarly, lamb, veal, and beef kidneys boast high vitamin B12 content, with lamb kidneys offering around 3000% of the DV per 3.5-ounce serving, along with substantial quantities of vitamin B2 and selenium.

Tuna

Tuna, a commonly consumed fish, presents an impressive array of nutrients, including high concentrations of vitamin B12. A 3.5-ounce serving of cooked tuna provides 453% of the DV for this essential vitamin. Notably, the muscles beneath the skin, termed dark muscles, contain the highest levels of vitamin B12.

Moreover, canned tuna, a convenient option, contains noteworthy amounts of vitamin B12, with a 142-gram can providing 152% of the DV. Tuna’s nutrient profile extends beyond vitamin B12, featuring lean protein, phosphorus, selenium, and vitamins A and B3. [2]
