Foods to Avoid

Processed Meats

Steer clear of processed meats such as hot dogs, deli, salami, pepperoni, and canned meats high in sodium, additives, and unhealthy fats. These processed meats have been linked to inflammation and adverse health effects, making them unsuitable for individuals with MS. Choose fresh, unprocessed meat options whenever possible to minimize exposure to harmful ingredients.

Refined Carbohydrates

Limit your intake of refined carbohydrates like white bread, pasta, pastries, sugary cereals, and baked goods, which can spike blood sugar levels and contribute to inflammation. Instead, opt for whole grain alternatives such as whole wheat bread, brown rice, quinoa, and oatmeal, which provide fiber, vitamins, and minerals essential for overall health and MS management.

Fried Foods

Avoid fried foods such as French fries, fried chicken, onion rings, and fried seafood, which are high in unhealthy fats and calories. Consuming fried foods regularly can contribute to inflammation, weight gain, and worsening MS symptoms. Choose healthier cooking methods like baking, grilling, steaming, or sautéing with minimal oil to reduce the risk of inflammation and support overall health.
